With the exception of the 10+ calls per day when I was in my temp FH, I can't really complain to them, except for the one time that they sent me a "repo letter". They promised later that the letter they sent was a mistake, and when I got caught back up on my payments, the calls stopped. The only person I am able to complain to at this point is available to me in the mirror. ;) One mistake by them over the course of nearly 8 years...
The reps from Americredit have always been very fair and even courteous to me over the phone. I treat them with respect, and they afford me the same.
I am friends with a collections person from another corporation, and she is one tough lady, but she will go to bat for you if you are straight forward with her. If you piss her off with lies and other shen's, she will go to bat for her organization in a way that she CAN, BECAUSE SHE CAN but only for a *** good reason. This is the case with EVERYONE in this industry up to a certain extent. Ultimately, a job has to be done, and if it involves sending the repo-man to your house, then you better expect it. Whatever it says in the contract, it's going to happen.
I read many of the comments about auto financing debt problems. I also listen to Dave Ramsey on radio, and every time I do, I get more of the itch to kick the debt monster out of my life. With nearly $50k in debt prior to 03/2007 (not just Americredit), and now less than $10k as of now and an income of less than 40k/year, I feel like I am on the lead lap of the Indy 500 with the best pit crew, freshest tires, most fuel & fastest car.
I will say this much... If you are having problems with not just Americredit & other Ameri-ripoff's, but United, Drive Financial, Cap 1, etc. The real issue in your life is that you are in debtor's prison with shackles, an empty food dish & sewer water, and they are not breaking the rules, and don't plan to.
They have all the reasons NOT to break the rules because the options on their end of the contract are all in their favor, NOT YOURS...
You can continue to complain here and there, but it's not going to stop them. they have their lawyers, and YOU DON'T, or maybe you have one who doesn't give a rat's behind. The only way to win the fight against THEM is to KICK THE DEBT MONSTER OUT OF YOUR LIFE.
Will Americredit ruin your credit? If given a reason to, ABSOLUTELY!
Will Americredit take your only form of transportation away from you? If given a reason to, ABSOLUTELY!
Will any of these organizations in this industry ruin YOU? If you let them, ABSOLUTELY!
Is Americredit a charity? ABSOLUTELY NOT...
