Americredit will call you 10 times aday if you are late with a payment . Even in these trying times where everyone is doing their best to pay off their loans under such hardship.

It is illegal for them to call you even once a week let alone several times per day.

Also their interest rates are very high and they are rude when talking to anyone there on the phone.

The FDCPA protects you against these calling methods after you have told them to stop calling.

I used to have that problem. I fell behind once and they called me so much that I changed my number. The call began at 8am and lasted until 9pm with at least two or three every hour and sometimes back to back. That is not neccessary. But I do have to say STOP BEING AFRAID TO CALL!!!!

As soon as I did that, I made arrangements and the calls stopped. Stop being afraid they will take your car, they won't, they lose money that way. When I found out that my payment can be deferred. I never had a problem calling them again. And I always call BEFORE my payment is missed. 99.9% of the time you know that you are going to miss a payment, Just call trust me the stress level goes way down and it shows you are being responsible. They even changed my payment date to the paycheck before my bill is due. I haven't been late since.

I agree they have a right to call to find out if there is any new info on when you might be able to pay them, but receiving several calls daily is above and beyond that right!

So i borrowed money, i got behind.....i know i owe, but what do they think they are going to accomplish by repeatedly calling daily?

I was only a month behind, but maintained ONLY 1 month behind as i couldnt get ahead to bring it up to date. I told them the same story over and over and over, each time they called. It got to the point i MADE them recite back to me previous call conversations, then asked what they wanted to know. Didnt make a difference, more stupid "telemarketer style" calls continued.

I decided to file Bankruptcy to end it and now they can deal with my attorney, as i dont have to deal with them at all....even reduced the amount i owed to half and all is paid thru the bankruptcy trustee. :)

I agree they have a right to call you. But 6 to 10 calls a day is total bullshit!

what are you talking about? First off, you either didn't read the page that's connected to the link you posted, or you are conforming what's posted to fit your problem. They have a right to collect a valid debt. You have to submit something in writing in order for the calls to cease. Also first party debt collectors do not have to follow FDCPA regulations, only 3rd party debt collection companies do. You can't complain about the interest rates being high, you have bad credit or else you would have gone through someone else. Even though the economy is bad, they will still try and collect your debt. Sorry.
