Our car was repossessed by Americredit while we were sleeping from our garage. We had paid them over $36,000 and were 1 payment behind. The car was sold at auction, after which we received a notice from Americredit that we owed them another $11,000 and listed the repossession with all 3 credit reporting agencies as a repossession with a balance due of $21,000! This remains on our report and prohibits us from buying a car without extremely high interest. They are taking advantage of citizens more than the mortgage companies and should be investigated by the Congress.

I received a payment deferrment from Americredit, paid the one month plus fees that they charged for the deferrment, which I paid online.....on that same day Americredit also debited the exact same amount from my checking account without my permission. Now if that isn't an unsavory business, then please tell me what is!!!!

Lol I love those of us who pay our bills on time all of a sudden have silver spoon shoved up our assets....Americredit could care less if your dog died or aunt sally had a heart transplant they are a business...i dont see how they are being inconsiderate by repoing your car because you refuse to pay what you owe.
As far as them breaking into the garage that is highly illegal...I wish someone would set foot on my property to touch anything I have shelled out 36,000 dollars for....
the moral to all of thse stories is def pay your bills on time....Americredit does not care if you are dead in your grave...you had better pay that car note on the 4th of every month!

First of all, it is illegal to enter a closed/locked premises to reposess anything...if in fact these garages were locked, then Americredit and their representatives should be prosecuted for breaking and entering. It is prohibited from going on Federal Government Property to seize/repo anything as well...Violators will be arrested on spot and prosecuted...
Secondly, just because a person falls behind on their loans due to unforeseen hardship, does not constitute dis-honesty. There are a lot of hard-working individuals who need a helping hand from time-to-time...GOD help anyone who sits in judgement of others...and since you who do seem to have been born with a silver spoon; maybe you can offer to help some less fortunate...

The government who is suppose to protect the consumers have been sleeping. No one is looking at these allegations. These lending companies are protected, but who will protect the consumers from these financial monsters. They did the same thing to my mother's friend son. Took his car in the middle of the night claiming they did not have license to refinance the note. They could only lend and receive payments. The fed should look into these matters, as they work to rewrite consumer mortgages. They need to do something to mandate lenders like Americredit to work with clients to re-work their car note payments.

AmeriCredit is not in the business to repossess vehicles. If AmeriCredit did in fact repossess your vehicle, they did so only after you were several months past due and were not in contact with them.
